I have loved Folk Art since I was a little girl. I have always been drawn to the multi-colored scenery, and think it's such a fun, creative way to share a story! This painting was something I dreamed up during a much needed break from work and school. Since Christmas is right around the corner, I decided to do something festive and unique. When I think of this time of year, I think of all the color and bright lights. But at the center of it all is the true reason. That's why the church is front and center in this painting. Yes, the bright lights and trees and gifts are fun and joyous to enjoy, but Christ is the true reason for it all!
Dysfunction to Dynasty - Ch. 7 Phyllis: REALLY MY FAMILY?
The Unexpected - Many have never heard this story before. It centers on one woman suddenly having to question… is my family really my family?
Isaiah 53: 4-5 One day, I decided to paint with Tony, something we could do together. I decided to paint a cross, something abstract. As I painted, I reflected on Isaiah 53, and was inspired to paint colors in such a way as a reminder of Christ’s sufferings. On the cross, he bore our sin, shame, guilt and sickness. Notice the streaks and disorder of color on this cross representing that. I’m so thankful that God so loved us that he sent his son, and that if we believe in him we will not perish but have everlasting life. He didn’t send his son to condemn the world, but that through him we might be saved. John 3:16-17. Thank God for the cross and it’s beautiful story of forgiveness and redemption!
Read my blog about making Mayhaw jelly with my Dad! It's delicious on Miss Kay's Melt in Your Mouth Biscuits, rolls, toast, and anything else your creative mind can think of. We'd love it if you shared with us if you made it and how it went. Blessings!
